The Sturgis Rally began in 1938 as the Black Hills Motor Classic. Since then, the week-long Sturgis Bike Rally has grown to draw over 500,000 motorcycle enthusiasts each August, with events taking place in and around the Sturgis, South Dakota region. There are hotels, motels, and vacation rentals available for visitors but, as these are limited, many bikers camp out in the various Sturgis campgrounds, including the famous Buffalo Chip Campground.

Sturgis Rally events include motorcycle races, demo rides, autograph sessions, charity benefits, vendor expos, stunt shows, contests, and dozens of concerts including national and local artists and tribute acts. Aside from Sturgis Rally festivities, Sturgis visitors can enjoy famous tourist sights such as Mount Rushmore, Devil's Tower, Deadwood, and Badlands National Park.

Now in its 82nd year, making it the oldest motorcycle rally in the U.S., Laconia Motorcycle Week draws hundreds of thousands of bikers to Laconia and Weirs Beach, New Hampshire each June to enjoy events like the Laconia Vintage Races, when racers speed through downtown Laconia to the delight of onlookers. Other races at the NH International Speedway, the City of Laconia Bike Show, a motorcycle parade, poker runs, and a fireworks show, along with plenty of demos, promos, and concerts, help round out the week's activities.

Being on Lake Winnipesaukee makes Weirs Beach and Laconia great places to spend a vacation even beyond the multitude of bike week activities. From boating to amusement parks, fishing to miniature golf, you certainly won't run out of things to do when you come to Laconia for Bike Week. A short ride north on your bike will take you to some historic covered bridges, or head east to get to the Atlantic seacoast. Delmarva Bike Week—so named because of its location in the Mid-Atlantic Coast area of Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia—has been held in Ocean City, Maryland each September since 2001. The 2004 rally drew 90,000 motorcycle enthusiasts to come check out the Bike Games, t-shirt contests, tattoo contests, free concerts by top acts, and, of course, custom bike shows, demos, and bike races.

From races to shows to tattoo contests, it's all here in Gettysburg. The historical sites in the area and surrounding country roads make it a great spot for a bike rally, which is why it's such a quickly growing event. The Main Street area of Gettysburg offers dozens of restaurants, shops, and attractions, including several museums and walking tours.
