The Taj Malabar is located on the tip of Willingdon Island and commands a magnificent view of the backwaters. It was built in the 1930`s as a hotel for the disembarking passengers of Bibby line. The Taj Malabar has 2 wings the tower wing (rooms and suites overlooking the habour and the sea) and the heritage wing ( old world rooms with wooden flooring). The hotel has been upgraded to meet the needs of the modern business traveller,a state of the art business centre,internet connectivity in the rooms. Taj Malabar has an activity centre, a health spa (to open in September 2001 which will includ3ed a beauty parlor Ayurveda Centre, a gym, stream and jacuzzi) the Aquarius the infinity swimming pool cascading into the backwaters, a gift shop. The room facilities included CCTV, internet and email facilities, tea/coffee maker, fruit basket in room, shower cubicle and el-safe in Heritage wing, herbal toiletteries, mini bar, large work desk,24 hour hot and cold water.
