Montserrat claims to be the emerald jewel of the Caribbean. Visitors can go on many different guided tours and hikes, one of which takes you through the lush vegetation to visit an old banana plantation and continues further to a peak that offers fantastic views of the coast. The island contains some of the most unspoiled and secluded beaches in the world. All but one of the beaches, Rendezvous Bay, have shiny black sand due to the island's volcanic nature.
