Sturgis, South Dakota is home to the world-famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which began in 1938 as the Black Hills Motor Classic. Since then, the week-long Sturgis Bike Rally has grown to draw over 500,000 motorcycle enthusiasts each August, with events taking place in and around the Sturgis, South Dakota region. There are hotels, motels, and vacation rentals available for visitors but, as these are limited, many bikers camp out in the various Sturgis campgrounds, including the famous Buffalo Chip Campground.
Sturgis Bike Week events include motorcycle races, demo rides, autograph sessions, charity benefits, vendor expos, stunt shows, contests, and dozens of concerts including national and local artists and tribute acts. Aside from Bike Week festivities, Sturgis visitors can enjoy famous tourist sights such as Mount Rushmore, Devil's Tower, Deadwood, and Badlands National Park. Just 10 miles south of Sturgis is the Bethlehem Cave Wild Adventure Park, with horseback riding, cave tours, spelunking, gem panning, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and more for visitors to enjoy.
