Cherokee National Forest surrounds most of the lake w/ Appalachian Trail at top. The lake is for swimming fishing( it has bass, crappy, catfish and trout if you are so licensed and skilled). This area has an abundance of mountain views and drives that are undiscovered by the non-locals. Bike riding rentals downhill on the Abingdon /Damascus Creeper Trail are near by.The lake gets exciting in summer with the activities and wonderfull state maintained lake beaches. We rent a pontoon boat on the premises for the lake. Nearby white water adventures await. The 4th of July has lake view fireworks sponsored by local marinas
