The Misono Ryokan is located in the beautiful area of Kurashiki. It is just a 10 minutes walk to the Ohara Art Museum, a private museum of Japan's first Western art. The Over-Kake Art Museum is also just a 10 minutes walk away, as is the Takanashi Gakuen, a famous art school. There is a close interaction between the students and teachers of the school and the art museums, featuring also regional arts and culture. The Misono Ryokan was establishment as a villa of a vassal in the Okayama-Ikeda clan, dating back to the end of Meiji era. It has later been reopened as a restaurant and was very popular among the visitors to Kurashiki. After the beginning of the Taishou era, Misono began its accommodation service and built up its current style. The special cuisine and attentive staff attracted a lot of customers and its good reputation spread over the regions. Later, the Misono Ryokan was used for formal meetings, parties or receptions.The Misono Ryokan features a total of 22 rooms and a banquet hall. All the rooms are traditional Japanese style rooms of various types. Some of the rooms are offering a beautiful view on the hotel's garden. For guests who are not accustomed to the Japanese style rooms, it is possible to prepare a regular bed in the room. If wished, the hotel also offers to equip the rooms with table and chairs, in case of which guests need to make a request during the reservation process. At the ryokan, free parking is available for up to 15 cars.The Misono Ryokan can easily be accessed by train. It takes about 8 minutes on foot after reaching Kurashiki Station. To reach it, walk about 400 m from around the station to the western and turn left at the corner of the Kagawa Bank. After that, you only have walk straight for 200 more meters, and then you can already see it on your right side.
