Chateau Margo was a huge frustration and disappointment. We stayed in May 2008. Prior to our arrival, the owner failed to mention there would be construction workers repairing the outside damaged stucco for two days during our stay. The downstairs apartment was unlivable. The air was too musty and mildewy to even stay in, not to mention unhealthy because the air conditioning had not been turned on for several days. The bathroom was dirty with hair in the shower and all over the floor. Once we discovered the filthy mildewed bathmat we actually threw it out. Chateau Margo at best has 5 bedrooms. The other two are literally closets that she has put bunk beds in. The main living space was filthy so we used lots of clorox wipes to clean the kitchen shelves and counters before putting our food away. The floors were absolutely grimey. Dirty socks for everyone. We finally called Margo and requested the place be cleaned again. She did respond and sent someone over but not much improvement was made. The sliding doors to the deck were practically non-functional. She sent a repairman but he did not have the proper parts so we struggled with the doors as best we could. The door out to the front balcony was also unusable. There were loose railings on the deck which made it very unsafe especially for children. We brought all of these things to the owner's attention and suggested she not rent the house again if it is not in rentable condition. No wonder she's trying to sell it. We've stayed many places and this was by far was the worst. The owner had every excuse in the book for why the house was in such bad shape, but of course no apology or compensation - oops, that's not accurate -she did send flowers. Too little too late. I would never recommend this house to anyone. |

the view was great, house clean, no problems at all, and apartment downstairs was great for the children, had 2 kitchens which was needed |
