The home was filthy! Every room and aspect of the house was dirty. A/C was covered in grime, refigerator was dirty inside and outside, one bathtub was covered in dirt and when we turned the water on to clean it the water came out brown, carpeting was filthy and covered in spots, throw pillows were dirty, there were not adequate towels, when we arrived there was no toilet paper, soap dispensers were almost empty, kleenex was missing in some bedrooms and almost empty in the other bedrooms, the blankets had spots on them and smelled of perfume, dust and dirt covered everything including the windows sills, windows were filthy, locks were faulty and would have made it difficult to get out of the house if there was an emergency, the tile floors looked beautiful, but were filthy dirty, the pool towels were old and thread-bare, there were only 2 lounge chairs (there were 11 of us who rented this house), the fans threw dirt all over when they were turned on, we paid for a luxury home and ended up with a dirty mess. On the up side, the grounds and pool were beautiful and very well maintained. The location is great. The owner needs to take responsibility for getting this home thoroughly cleaned and keep it that way for future renters.

if you have any questions about the bad review I just wrote, please feel to contact me at creativegrandma@comcast.net. We rented Villa Altamira 4/21/07 through 4/28/07.

I wanted to take a few minutes to tell you about our recent trip to Villa Altamira. First, the grounds were beautiful as was the pool and the location was great. Also, Dennis was wonderful. He responded immediately to all of our calls. Unfortunately, the house, upon our arrival, was really dirty. I will outline some of our observations:

MEDIA ROOM

The carpeting in the media room was filthy and had many dirty stains

The large pillows in the media room were really dirty as were the two throw rugs

The lamp and tables were covered in dust and grimy dirt (not just a little normal dust)

Greasy dirt covered the front of the air conditioner

Both pool sticks were broken (Dennis got new ones for us)

The hanging cloth behind the pool table had a big hole in it

The patio door and window were really dirty

KITCHEN

The tile floor looked nice, but when we dropped something and wiped it up we were appalled at how filthy the floor was

The exhaust fan over the stove was really dirty. In fact, the tiles were so grimy and dirty someone had actually written their name in the dirt and it is still there

The refrigerator exhaust was covered in dirt. The inside was also very dirty and has not been cleaned in a very long time.

The kitchen window was so dirty you could hardly see out

DINING & GREAT ROOM

The front of the tables had dust pushed around, but the back and bottom were covered in dirt

The window sills were covered in dirt

The floors were filthy

The door could not be opened from the inside. The lock was broken and had to be locked and opened from the outside. This was a definite safety hazard.

The windows were dirty

Air conditioning smelled really bad every time it came on

MASTER BEDROOM

No extra toilet paper (Dennis ran out on Saturday and got us some toilet paper)

Bathroom rug was dirty

Kleenex was almost empty

Carpeting needed to be cleaned

No wash cloths

Sheets were really old

BEDROOM IN HOUSE

Bathtub was filthy; water came out brown

No extra toilet paper

Hand soap almost empty

No Kleenex

Windows were dirty

Carpeting was filthy

Internet did not work

CASITA WITH HALF BATH

Carpeting was dirty

Fan threw dirt all over when it was turned on

No extra toilet paper

Hand soap almost empty

Kleenex was almost empty

There was no closet or dresser or shelves to put your clothes

There were no shelves in the bathroom to put toiletries

Not enough towels (Dennis directed us to master where extra towels were located, no wash cloths)

TV was inadequate and had been dropped, side was broken

CASITA WITH DAY BED

Carpeting was dirty

Fan threw dirt all over when it was turned on

No extra toilet paper

Hand soap almost empty

Kleenex was almost empty

Not enough linens for the day bed. We used blankets and they were dirty and smelled of perfume.

MISCELLANEOUS

There were no pool floats or noodles

BBQ was missing handles so it was dangerous to try and lift the hot lid

Insufficient loungers – if you rent to 11 people you need more than 2. We all wanted to lie around the pool. Even cheap ones would have worked.

Pool towels were old and thin and there weren't enough for all of us

We had to actually buy the following:

· Towel paper

· Plastic wrap

· Trash bags

· Salt and pepper

It would have been nice to have a few screens to help keep the bugs out

Locks were poor; needing a key to open many of them from the inside is bad. We had to hide the key outside so the people in the casitas could get into the house at night, if necessary. Those of us inside would have had a difficult time getting out if there had been a fire or an emergency.

Don't advertise 5 fireplaces when you can't use any of them because of the possibility of fire

We paid over $6,000 for the week and were very disappointed. We expected the luxury that was portrayed on the internet. I suspect if the owner had reserved a room at the Hyatt and checked into a room with filthy carpeting, insufficient towels, blankets that had spots on them and smelled of perfume, dirt everywhere, no extra toilet paper, etc. he would have called the front desk and demanded another room. No one should be expected to stay in other people's dirt.
