Built in 1908 by D.A. Rainsburg, Guthrie Station Master for the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, the Victorian Garden Inn offers far more than the average bed & breakfast.
At the Victorian Garden Inn, you'll find the kind of thoughtful extras that melt stress and pamper in the most relaxing way. Like flowers, just-baked snacks and ice-cold soft drinks in your room, lots of thick fresh towels, bubble bath, interesting books, current magazines, and even many toiletries that might have been forgotten.
Each guest room has a private bath, clock radio/stereo, and a TV & VCR tucked away so it's available but not dominating the room. Arrangements can also be made for a phone in your room, but usually that's the main thing our guests want to avoid during their stay!
In January, 2004, we took over operation of a beautiful property just three blocks from the main house. It includes two wonderful cottages; in front is a lovely two-bedroom 1904 Victorian bungalow. In back, the carriage house has been expanded and converted into a wonderful honeymoon suite.

GIFT CERTIFICATES. Yes, we offer gift certificates, and can make your gift-giving easy! With your credit card in hand, just call and give us all the appropriate info, and we'll send the certificate directly to the recipient, or back to you. It will include a brochure and a nice letter explaining what they are getting and who it is from.
PLAN AHEAD. If you're considering a Friday or Saturday stay in the next week or so, we MIGHT still have something available, but keep in mind that we often fill up Friday and Saturday night reservations as much as six weeks in advance. Weekday nights are usually a little easier to get on shorter notice. But if you want to get a specific room on a specific night, try to plan as far ahead as you possibly can, just to be sure.
CREDIT CARDS ARE A GOOD THING. You can guarantee your room with any major credit card (as long as it's yours!). We won't charge your card when you make the reservation, and you can pay however you choose (cash, check or credit card) when you arrive for your stay. If you don't have a credit card, you may mail us a check or money order for your first night's total to hold the room, but we can't begin holding it until the check arrives. A seven day hold can be arranged on a mailed check if it is at least 15 days in advance of your arrival date.
WE'LL SEND A CONFIRMATION. Once we have taken your reservation, we will send you a confirmation in the mail. We usually send it out two to four weeks ahead of the scheduled arrival date so you won't have to keep track of it for too long. The confirmation will also include directions to our inn.
CANCELLATION POLICY. You may cancel your reservation any time without a problem up until 48 hours prior to 4 PM on the date of your arrival. If you must cancel after 4 PM two days before, we will be forced to charge you for the stay. BUT, we will make every effort to re-book your room. If we are successful, we will issue you a gift certificate for a return stay. Please understand that this is a very liberal policy by any lodging standards, and because we have so few rooms, we cannot afford to turn people away from a room you have guaranteed, and then find out too late that you aren't going to make it.
CHECK-IN. Check-in time is 4 PM. Check-out is 11 AM. Sometimes, early check-in can be accommodated, but only if it is arranged in advance.
PETS & SMOKE-FREE HOUSE. For the health and convenience of all of our guests, smoking is only allowed outside the house, and pets are not permitted.
Special rates are also available for:
- Multiple Night Stays (three or more consecutive nights in the same room)
- Corporate Travel (When on official business, Sunday-Thursday night)
- State Employees (State Rate when on official state business, Sunday-Thursday night)
- Church Gift Certificates (with tax-exempt status verification)
- Non-Profit Organization Gift Certificates (with verification of IRS designation as a 501(c) organization) |
