Nestled at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and very near Yosemite, this custom-built, tri-level, 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath home is set on eight secluded acres and has extensive decking and spa overlooking the boulder filled Sierra Mountain Creek and surrounding hills. Unique and inspiring architecture add much to the ambience of this casually elegant home.
SierraScape is comfortably furnished, has a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances, water softener, ice maker, and reverse osmosis water purification. You'll also find a coffee grinder, wine decanter, spice rack and more. There is a large stone wood-burning fireplace (firewood included), large, full bathroom with an open, walk-in tile shower with views as well as an oversize bathtub. The main bathroom is accessible from common living space, as is the 1/2 bath upstairs.
The master bedroom has a vanity sink, queen bed and a side door that opens onto it's own private deck leading down to the hot tub. The second Room With a View has a King bed and French doors leading out onto it's own private balcony overlooking the creek. Also upstairs is the third and coziest Forest room which also has a queen bed and several lovely views. All three bedrooms have ceiling fans, their own sitting/reading areas, and writing desks, adding to the comfort and privacy of each individual room.
We welcome and encourage families with young children and offer the use of a variety of baby/child items such as safety gates, play yard panels, highchair, booster seat, crib, porta-crib/playpen, strollers and age appropriate toys, all of which can be cumbersome and difficult to travel with. The back deck area is quite child friendly and the home is thoughtfully baby-proofed.
***LOCATION***
"SierraScape" sits well off Hwy 49 just nine easy miles south of the historic Gold Rush town of Mariposa, California and is ideally located between two different entrances to Yosemite National Park, both under an hour away. These entrance routes (Hwy. 41 and Hwy 140) offer a myriad of activities and attractions along the way to the park. Traveling up Hwy. 41 outside of Oakhurst you'll find things to see and do such as the world famous Mariposa Grove's Giant Sequoias, Goat Meadow Winter Sports Area where you can cross-country ski or let the kids play and sled in the snow, beautiful Bass Lake with it's water sports, beaches and restaurants and the historic Sugar Pine Railroad adventure, just to name a few.
Traveling in the other direction there is the awesome and scenic Merced River Canyon which is a popular attraction for white-water rafting and kayaking as well as fishing, and summertime swimming. Several commercial rafters provide trips down portions of the river.
You will find a quaint cafe and country store (w/gas pump) just two miles up the road. There are several good restaurants to choose from in both Mariposa and nearby Oakhurst. There is an abundance of wonderful children's activities nearby, and of course, the legendary Gold Rush region along historic Hwy. 49.
You can enjoy downtown Mariposa's historic charm, it's art galleries, antique and gift shops as well as the California State Mining Exhibit and the Mariposa Gold Country Museum. You can visit it's history center and California's oldest operating courthouse, or tour local wineries and taste some of the area's award-winning mountain wines..
You can be far away from it all here in your secluded home away from home, and yet easily be hiking in Yosemite Park or through the Giant Sequoias, skiing Badger Pass, boating on beautiful Bass Lake or sledding in the snow at Goat Meadow Winter Sports Area in less than an hour.
