It is located just two blocks from historic downtown Mackinac Island. Overlooking the shores of beautiful Lake Huron, the Island House Hotel offers guests comfortable and modern accommodations. Whether your preference lends itself to traditional, deluxe or premium rooms, you will find that all offer either eye-pleasing harbor or wooded bluff views. 93 tastefully decorated guest rooms await your stay. Each is appointed with cable color television with remote control, down quilts for superior comfort, hair dryer, make-up mirror and AM/FM radio alarm clock. An elevator services the first three floors of the hotel, and there are both handicap accessible and barrier free handicap rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned.Other amenities to make your stay more enjoyable include the pool house with hot tub and sauna and two full service restaurants. The Ice House is located next to the pool house it can offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Originally built in 1852, the Island House was the first summer hotel on Mackinac Island. As tourism grew, the hotel was moved from the shore and expanded.
