The main living/dining area of the Brigman House has been remodeled from the original log structure, set on this spot in 1840. The rest of this lovely home was vastly added onto as a "major renovation" back in 1890 when the "little log cabin" became a Country Inn. Over one hundred years later, the Brigman-Chambers house received yet another full face-lift. Totally & lovingly restored in 2004, the Historic Brigman House has all the charm of yesteryear with all the modern conveniences of today.
In the Brigman House there are 5 delightful bedrooms & 4.5 baths. Each bedroom will accommodate two to four guests, for a maximum capacity of 15 guests. All of the bedrooms have in-room fireplaces with gas logs, many with private & full baths, and some with spa tubs. Special touches, including wide plank floors & tiling, original rock fireplaces with delightful mantles, whimsical wall-papers, comfortable antique furnishings, wonderful quilts, sheets & towels - all surround you in a casual yet pampered feel.
Two spacious family rooms allow you to spread out in comfort. Several porches - upstairs & down - are available to sit upon, relax, read, enjoy the views, or just find a quiet moment. A modern kitchen, with top notch appliances & all amenities, opens out into the original log cabin living/dining room area. A gas grill is just out the back door (although most guests use this as the front door) & a cozy lawn will lure you out for an afternoon beverage and cookout.
BreakAway Cabin is a 2 bedroom 2 bath Vacation Rental. The Master Bedroom has a king bed & full bath with spa tub and separate shower. The upstairs loft room has a Queen bed & private full bath.
Sit on the rocking chair front porch with lovely Mountain Views & babling creek, or grill (gas) out on the delightful back deck. Retreat to the cozy indoors with added amenities such as a wonderfully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, quality sheets & towels, wireless internet access, in-house phone with unlimited local & long distance calling (within US), rock fireplace with gas logs, central air & heat and many wonderful warm touches.
BreakAway Cabin has a flat, grassy yard & is easily accessed via a private drive, just off Reems Creek Road; reserve separately, or reserve with the Brigman House - a delightful 5BR historic home, just on the other side of the creek - take the walking bridge!
Location, Location, Location!! Lovely views & a creek!, yet convenient - downtown Asheville is an easy 15 minutes away (buy your Biltmore Estate tickets directly from us if you like & we'll have them waiting for you at the house) - or enjoy the quaint & enjoyable walking town of Weaverville, just 5 minutes from The Brigman House - go antiquing there at the fun & funky Restoration Hardware Store, or one of the many local artist galleries (The Art Safari the end of April & the beginning of November, each year is WONDERFUL!!), enjoy the incredible Secret Garden Spa or have a cup of coffee & pastry at the Well Bred Bakery & Cafe.
Reems Creek Golf Course is just a "down the road" from the Brigman House, as is Vance Birthplace (a delightful mountain state park & Historic Site with picnic spot & "living" museum - The Historic Brigman House was part of this 1840s "development"). Take Scenic Ox Creek Road to the Blue Ridge Parkway , just a 4 mile scenic drive, to access trails, hiking, motor touring, cycling & all the Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer.

For Vacation Rentals, All of Oakland Cottage, All of the Brigman House 50% payment is required to hold a reservation and may be refunded up until 60 days prior to the check-in date, minus a $35 booking fee; within 60 days of the check-in date, payment is due in full and is no longer refundable. If we are able to rebook the unit, any amount rebooked will be refunded minus the cancellation fee.
Because of our small size, cancellations effect us greatly; we therefore adhere strictly to our cancellation policies.
For B&B rooms or Suites, 1 nights room rate is required to hold the room and may be refunded up until 7 prior to the check-in date, minus a $25 booking fee; within 7 days of the check-in date, full payment is due and no longer refundable. |
