Hanover House Bed & Breakfast was built in the 1860's with later additions. Its surrounding green fields, lovely landscaping, full front porch, deck, large in-ground swimming pool, 2 stocked ponds, and English country flower and vegetable gardens enchant everyone. A separate tree-lined drive leads to the stables.
The charming home is furnished with elegant Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian antique furniture and prints, gathered during the proprietor's residency in the United Kingdom (where she restored a fairy-tale 16th century thatched cottage). Hand-made and hand-decorated porcelains by Royal Doulton, Royal Worchester, Royal Stratford, Aynsley, and others forming fanciful characters such as Sherlock Holmes, Alice in Wonderland, and King Henry the Eighth adorn niche and nook.
The house features a parquet floor foyer, panelled doors, exposed cherry beams, and a cherry mantle surrounding the family room fireplace. The gourmet kitchen has a step-down wet bar not far away. A small library, sunlit by priory-style beveled glass windows, is a cozy spot for sampling books.
The quiet elegance of Hanover House can also provide a charming, relaxed atmosphere for group meetings, conferences, or lectures, with a catered additional meal possible. It is a lovely setting for weddings, receptions, birthdays, and retirement parties.
Room Descriptions:
King and Queen's Suite
The master bedroom is 18' x 15' with accompanying sitting room and fireplace. Its king-sized, canopied 4-poster bed has a lovely English down and feather duvet. The floor is covered by plush, supple, hunter green carpet and there are walk-in and cedar closets and beautiful matching bedspread and wallpaper.
The private bath has a large whirlpool tub, steam sauna, roomy shower, and double-bowled vanities.
Prince Andrew Room
This quaint and charming room has a beautiful queen-sized 4-poster bed with English down and feather duvet. It shares a pretty bathroom and a large private sitting room with the Princess Margaret room. These two rooms have the top floor all to themselves. There is plush carpet throughout and the views are lovely.
Prince Charles Room
This large, lovely room features a beautiful cherry-wood king-sized 4-poster bed with English down and feather duvet. There are plush carpets and beautiful matching pillows and wallpaper. The spacious, private bathroom has double-bowled vanities.
Princess Anne Room
This room features a very sweet, rosebud queen-sized 4-poster bed with English down and feather duvet. There is also a matching twin bed with a lovely ruffled canopy. There are plush carpets and beautiful matching pillows and wallpaper. The pretty, private bathroom has double-bowled vanities.
Princess Margaret Room
This enchanting room has a beautiful queen-sized 4-poster bed with English down and feather duvet. It shares a pretty bathroom and a large private sitting room with the Prince Andrew room. These two rooms have the top floor all to themselves. There is plush carpet throughout and the views are lovely.
