Set back in a lush coastal rainforest, a short stroll from Cape Tribulation's beach and its famous mangrove boardwalks, Ferntree Rainforest Lodge is an environment-friendly resort that's easy on the visitor too. Named in 1770 by Captain Cook for the trouble he ran into before grounding his ship on a nearby reef, Cape Tribulation offers bush walks, horse rides, kayaking, snorkeling, and more. The dense rainforest reaches all the way down to the coast from rugged mountains rising in the west, with ancient, exotic plant life bordering the waterfalls and clear jungle streams.Hotel amenities include the two swimming pools, tour Desk, bicycle hire, TV room and BBQ facilities. The Cassowary Cafe overlooks the main pool and consists of two dining huts built into the rainforest along with a main building and outside deck. Cassowary Cafe opening hours are seasonal and subject to change. Ferntree Rainforest Lodge has two bars, each by one of the resort's two pools. Guests staying at Ferntree Rainforest Lodge and who maybe looking for a more intimate dining experience are welcome to dine at the Cape Restaurant and Bar at their sister property nearby, Cape Tribulation Resort and Spa. Also at Cape Tribulation Resort, the beachfront Ocean Spa offers clay wraps, body scrubs, stone therapy, traditional beauty treatments, and much more.Poolside rooms provide a resort feel with an upstairs private balcony overlooking the lagoon-style pool.
