Playa Blanca Resort is situated on the Bay of Panama, the largest calm water bay in Central America where the fishing and scuba diving are excellent. Under construction and due for completion in 2009 is the second largest man-made lake in the world. It will be 17 acres in size with salt water and will accommodate non-motorized boats and scuba divers with a sandy shore located right out the kitchen window of your unit. The resort also offers fishing charters and Coba Island off the resort's coast is known for its excellent scuba diving opportunities. The non-motorized water sports available for rental at the resort include kayaks and surfboards, plus jet ski rentals fand ATV rentals for those requiring more speed. There is a tour company on-site for the many day trips available in the area. Whether it is a trip to Elle Valle to explore the local craft market or experiencing a canopy tour above the rain forested jungles or river rafting, they are ready to offer their services. And, no trip to Panama is complete without a tour of the Mira Flores Locks to experience the wonder of modern technology in moving ships. If joining a tour is not for you, there is an Alamo car rental office onsite. Panama enjoys several festivals throughout the year, including Carnivale in February. The Coronado Hotel is a twenty minute drive down the Pan-American Highway from the resort, with its famous pink buildings and golf course.
