The Bay Head Gables is perhaps Ocean County's finest Bed & Breakfast Inn. The design of the elaborate, Georgian-style, three-story cedar shake "cottage," is attributed to the noted architect Stanford White. Built in 1914 as a private summer home, over the years it has been used as a private residence, a distinguished restaurant and, for the past half century, as guest house and inn. But since its inception, the three-storied, pillared structure, with its 150-foot wrap-around porch, has remained truly a landmark at the entry to fashionable Bay Head. The Gables' beautifully manicured lawns, and flowered gardens of infinite variety and color, entice even the most seasoned visitor.
The Gables, uniquely situated, at the head of Barnegat Beach Island, is about 75 yards from the Atlantic Ocean and its beautiful, protected white sand beach; a stone's throw to Twilight Lake, a serene water fowl sanctuary; two blocks from Bay Head Junction railroad station serviced by NJ Transit's Jersey Coast Line (2 hours from NYC mid-town Penn Station); and, about 1-1/2 hour drive from NYC and Philadelphia.
Here's where we've come from. In 1984, we'd "had it" and decided to chuck the bureaucratic and corporate worlds. Don, a former teacher (currently chairman of the Bay Head Planning Board), and Ed, an ex-chemical industry lobbyist, fell in love with this "genteel, gracious but faded lady." We initially set about with 40 gallons of paint to make the place cosmetically acceptable and we've been going strong ever since. The fact that we're now starting our 21st season as Owners/Innkeepers, says something positive about our facility, accommodations and hospitality. Some of our guests -- and one of our housekeepers -- have been with us each year; that, too, attests that we're doing something right! Hospitality and service is our business, but it also is our pleasure!

Does NOT include 6% NJ sales tax, 7% NJ occupancy fee or customary housekeepers gratuities

TERMS:
Three or four night minimum for holidays, and three night minimum for weekends during July and August.
Two night weekends most other times (except very quiet times)

Check-in between 1 - 8 PM. Later arrivals by special arrangement.
Check-out no later than 11 AM
Rooms are NOT confirmed without 1-night deposit (minimum) or 50% of entire cost for longer stay.
