Hersey House was originally built in 1904 for William and Ella Breeden. In 1916, James and Carrie Hersey purchased the house, and five generations of their family lived here until it was sold in 1974. In 1983, it was restored and converted into a four room bed and breakfast Inn.
The Bungalow was built in the 1940's. In 1992, it was remodeled and now provides accommodations for groups of up to six as well as families with children of all ages.
The front porch catches the morning sun, and is ideal for reading, writing postcards or playing a friendly game of cards. In the evening, unwind and watch the light play on the hills across the valley as the sun sets. The deck, located behind the house, is shaded by a large sycamore tree, and has a table and chairs. Enjoy a picnic lunch, or nap on the padded bench.
The colorful garden is in bloom for most of the year. From March, when the plum tree is in full bloom, until September, when the concord grapes are ripening, the colors and fragrances are overwhelming.
Hersey House is located in Ashland's Historic District. Ashland's Plaza, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Lithia Park are all a short ten to fifteen minute walk from the Inn.

| Rental Policies and Forms of Payment

Reservations
- Reservations may be made by calling any of the phone numbers listed above.
- A deposit of one night's stay for each room rented or 25% of the total charge, whichever is greater, is required to confirm your reservation. - Reservations made less than 21 days prior to arrival may require a deposit of the total charge.
- Deposits may be paid by Visa, MasterCard or Discover. We no longer accept American Express due to excessive charges on their part. Checks will be accepted only for reservations made at least two months in advance. Deposit checks must be received by us within five days of the day you reserve the room.
- We have a two night minimum stay during high seasons. However, we can often fit single night stays into our calendar. Please check with us for availability.
Cancellations and Changes
- Any change to a reservation that reduces the number of rooms or days reserved will be treated as a cancellation.
- There is a $25 fee for processing cancellations.
- Cancellations and changes require notice of 21 days prior to date of arrival.
- One month notice is required to cancel or change a reservation involving more than one room.
- In the event of late cancellations (21 days for single room reservations, one month for multiple room reservations), payment for all dates reserved that cannot be rebooked is required.
General Policies
- Payment of the balance due must be made at check-in. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, cash and travelers checks. - Personal checks will be accepted, with advance notice, at our sole discretion.
- No refunds will be made for early departures.
- No pets are allowed.
- No smoking is allowed anywhere on the property.
- Children age 12 and over are welcome. Children age 7 and over are welcome in the Bungalow.
- Check-in time is from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. If you will arrive outside of these times, please make arrangement prior to arrival.
- Check-out time is 11:00 AM for all rooms in the house. Bungalow check-out time is 10:00 AM.
- Additional charges may apply for early check-in or late check-out.
- All policies and prices are subject to change without notice.
Bungalow Policies
- The Bungalow is a housekeeping unit. We expect the kitchen to be left clean when you check out. If it is not, we may charge a cleaning fee of up to $250. |
