While visiting Antigua most will spend a majority of their time in St Johns, the island's capital. The city is filled with shopping and dining opportunities especially at Redcliffe Quay. The closest beach to St. Johns is Fort Bay; it’s also the home of Fort James, which was built in 1675 and is still moderately intact today. English Harbour at one time was a naval base and is Antigua’s most famous attraction due to its rich collection of history. On neighboring Island Barbuda, you can find some of the Caribbean’s most exclusive resorts. This island is very quiet and minimally populated with only a single village.
