Pratt Shore another great Chicago Hotel Alternative, extended stay - temporary housing solution
8 story midrise near the lake, beach, tennis court, park.
Living with beach and university close at hand
Beaches, parks, vintage apartments -- these features and more make Rogers Park a desirable Chicago neighborhood. Bordered by Devon Avenue on the south, Juneway Terrace on the north, Ridge Avenue on the west and Lake Michigan on the east, the community includes 63,000 residents who speak more than 80 languages.
The area was named for pioneer settler and developer Phillip Rogers. On April 29, 1878, Rogers Park was incorporated as a village, and in 1893, annexed to Chicago. Since then it frequently has been referred to as "East" Rogers Park, and West Ridge, the next neighborhood west, was identified as West Rogers Park.
Today visitors to Rogers Park often arrive via the area's "main drag": Sheridan Road running north from Devon Avenue. The street passes under the CTA Loyola Red Line station, and continues north along the western edge of the Loyola University Chicago campus. The Loyola station, several other Red Line stations and access to CTA Express buses make Rogers Park an excellent place for commuters.
Streets leading east from Sheridan Road all end at Lake Michigan. Pratt Avenue, four blocks north of the Loyola station, is just one. The one-block, tree-lined stretch dead ends at a beach with public tennis courts and a small park. Most of the buildings along the way are of 1920s vintage and have been converted into condominiums.
The Pratt Shore is a newly renovated eight-story brown brick building towering over it's immediate surroundings. In the lobby, Greek columns and green plants add a touch of charm. The hallways have been newly carpeted, and new windows were installed. This small but bright, comfortable and clean apartment is the perfect alternative for the budget minded traveler. Pratt Shore provides extra storage and bicycle storage are available, along with laundry facilities in the basement.
Cafes, restaurants and mini-markets are nearby along Sheridan. Evanston amenities are just a few miles north.
